Sacré-Cœur atop Montmartre in Paris is exactly what you would imagine it to be. Its Romano-Byzantine styled architecture, built of travertine stone, is grand, beautiful, and absolutely breathtaking. The view from there is amazing and even more spectacular if you climb up to the top of the dome. The spiral (and very narrow) stairs were challenging but very much worth it. There is something quite haunting (in a good way) when you walk around up there looking out at Paris as far as the eyes could see. I've said it before but I will say it again... An overcast Paris is the Paris of my dreams with everything being the most perfect shades of white, cream, and gray. Therefore, it is only appropriate that I match my surrounding with an equally neutral outfit. I adore these striped trousers by Current Air, they fit like a dream and the length is perfect for my petite frame. I styled them with an off-shoulder sweater, suede pumps by Madewell and a pom pom beret from Charlotte Russe.

Château de Versailles is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. If you ever visit Paris, I highly recommend spending a day out there. It's only about 50 minutes by train or less if you are lazy like me and just want to grab an uber. However, I do NOT recommend visiting during any holiday. I have been to Versailles twice, first time was off season in late September and it was empty. Last time I went was during Christmas and it was a total chaos. We waited in line for three and a half hours, I repeat, THREE AND A HALF hours! And it was packed, worse than Disneyland in the summer. Hall of Mirrors were more like Hall of People. The magic was gone but despite how busy it was Château de Versailles is still absolutely breathtaking.

As mentioned in my last post, that my Parisian rooftop dream came true. I know it sounds really silly that I am gushing over a balcony/terrace... but I am not exaggerating. The moment I saw and stepped onto this balcony in my room at Hotel Josephine in Paris, I gasped. The view from this rooftop perfectly situated on a corner of an intersection in the Montmartre-Pigalle neighborhood was phenomenal. No matter what words I use to describe what it was like, I simply cannot explain to you what it was like. Paris has some sort of magic in the air and being out there on those misty gray days was just breathtaking, literally. The moodiness of the sky paired with the white and cream Parisian architecture make such beautifully dramatic backdrop and I wanted to create this romantic look to go with it. A gorgeous lace top with bell sleeves layered underneath a midi knit dress... simple, chic, feminine. As you can imagine, I have taken many many many photos and I have to say these are some of my ultimate favorites...

When I think of Paris, I always picture those beautiful Parisian balconies and rooftops. You know, the ones where people spend time sipping coffee in the morning, having an afternoon cigarette or chatting over a glass of wine at night. I have always dreamed and imagined myself doing that (except the cigarette because I don't smoke). But it wasn't until my fourth time to Paris that this dream of mine came true. I was completely in awe when I walked into my room (the best room - Josephine superior room) at Hotel Josephine. Total Parisian shabby chic with the floral wallpaper, quirky layout, clawfoot tub, and most importantly the rooftop terrace. This is top floor, corner of a building on a corner of an intersection a block from Moulin Rouge in the Montmartre-Pigalle neighborhood. It is majestic. I definitely spent a good amount of time out there all three days I stayed despite the cold and rain sipping hot coffee in the misty mornings and people/car watch late at night. The terrace situation was so good that I had an entire photoshoot out there (special shoutout to Linh of Through The Glass Paris for taking these amazing photos of me in my room), which also explains why there is only one photo of the view in this post (stay tuned for next post). Also, thank you Hotel Josephine for hosting me in such a beautiful room, amazing stay, and all the yummy breakfasts!

My two weeks in Paris during December consisted of mostly gray sky (which I don't mind because overcast makes the best lighting for photographs), tons of rain, plenty of coldness, but lots of holiday cheers and magic. It was a nice escape from LA because it actually felt like winter and holiday. I wrote about this in a post on my Instagram but in case you missed it, here goes again... I was 15 years old the very first time I visited Paris with my family. Second time, I was with my then-boyfriend in my mid 20s. Last October, I went for the third time adventuring with a dear friend. And lastly a week ago, I was traveling mostly solo and spent two whole weeks there. I have experienced Paris many different times in many different ways, yet each time I fall in love a lot harder. As a matter of fact, I am already planning my next visit in a few months! And hopefully besides Paris, I will get to see South of France this time!
