Another wonderful meal we had in Portland was at
Mother's Bistro & Bar. When I think of the word "mother" when associated with food, I think of home cooked meals. And that is exactly what chef and owner Lisa Schroeder has prepared at her restaurant... taking traditional homemade favorites and refining them with classical cooking techniques. We started off with a couple of appetizers -- $15,000 Dungeness crab cake and Pierogi. Why $15,000 you asked? Lisa told us that the crab cake was of the two dishes she mastered at culinary school in which the tuition was $30,000. I say it was worth the money, so delicious! And Pierogi is a potato-filled dumpling, one of my favorite thing ever! As for entrées, I had the chicken and dumplings and the meatloaf and gravy. Jeremy had mac and cheese and the pulled pork. You must be wondering why we had two entrées each... luckily you can order half sized portion, that way you can try more dishes if you have a hard time deciding! Everything was so hearty and comforting, needless to say we were stuffed! Thank you Lisa for having us at
Mother's! We shall be back!
